What Are Your Options For Fences In Regina?

Adding a fence is a great way to add curb appeal, as well as additional value to your home. It is also a useful way to keep pets in your yard, and people or critters out!

If you are considering installing a fence in your yard, you might be curious as to what your options are, and what the pros and cons of each are. Let's take a look at some of your options for fences in Regina.

Chainlink: A chain link fence is probably one of the most recognizable types of fence. They're often seen on sports fields, or around schools. Chain link fences are affordable and low maintenance. They also offer the ability o be able to see into the yard, which can be either a pro or a con depending on your personal preferences. However, this lack of privacy can be seen as a con for many who would rather have their fences provide them a retreat from their neighbors. Many people also don't consider chain link to be quite as attractive as other fencing types.

Pressure treated fencing: Most yard jobs are done with pressure treated wood, whether it is a deck or a fence. The reason why is simple: it is inexpensive, holds up over time, and you can paint or stain however you like. It is also the most affordable option for the look of wood. However, it needs to be maintained through staining or sealing on an annual to bi-annual basis.

PVC fencing: PVC fences will typically look very similar to their wood counterparts; however they are made up of a vinyl material. One of the biggest advantages of PVC is that unlike wood, its colour will not face or yellow over time. This also means that you don't have to re-stain it as the years go by. It can also be manufactured in such a way that it looks remarkably like wood. However, PVC fencing, being made of plastic still has its flaws. It isn't quite as strong as chain link or wood should it be hit by bad weather, or even an object crashing into it. It can also be a costly option.

Cedar fencing: Cedar is a very popular type of wood to use for fences for several reasons: it is one of the most durable woods, and its natural oils make it not as susceptible to insect infestation or rot over time. However, you will want to put some sort of sealant on your fence in order to prevent the colour from graying over time, and this will need to be done fairly consistently over time. Also, cedar fencing can prove to be one of the most costly options.
